Egypt Lake and Mount Ball: Climbs and Scrambles

     Dates & Price
     August 1 (eve) - August 8, 2009
Cost per person is $1795 + GST

Join us for some classic Rockies’ scenery, pleasant campsites and moderate peaks as we explore the Egypt Lake and Mount Ball area.

To start off this camp in style, we will hike into Egypt Lake from Healy Creek with porters to help keep our packs light.  Spending the first few days here will give us the opportunity to discover the best of this beautiful area.  To set us up for the second half of the camp we will move closer to the more remote and prize peak of the area: Mt. Ball.

Climbs and scrambles available for the week include Pharaoh Peaks, Mt. Haiduk, the Monarch, Mt. Isabelle and Mt. Ball.  The hiking trails will take us past numerous lakes and over Healy, Whistling and Ball Passes, en route to our camps and climbs.  On the final day we will exit via Red Earth Creek to finish of this spectacular camp.

The area is renowned for its scenic vistas and myriad lakes and we will be seeing a good deal of what it has to offer.

Level of Difficulty

This camp is designed for those with some hiking, scrambling and climbing experience.  You must have a good level of fitness and some experience traveling on exposed fourth-class terrain, and be able to carry up to a 14kg (30lb) pack for several hours.  This camp will be porter-assisted to carry food and supplies into our base camp

  Ron Rusk

Ron Rusk is based in Ontario but don't hold that against him. He's been climbing on and off for about ten years and has recently started to develop his skills as a rock climbing and mountaineering leader, completing both the Rock Solid Leadership Course in Jasper and The North Face Summer Leadership in the Bugaboos this past season. He also enjoys ice climbing and basically anything else that has him scaling the walls. He's had the great pleasure to have climbed recently in Jasper, Canmore, The Gunks, Kentucky, and Toronto's home base Bon Echo among others, and is looking forward to expanding his knowledge to include camp management.
When not climbing, he enjoys reading books about climbing, talking about climbing, and trying to convince people to go climbing. He's also a carpenter.
