Mount Sir Sandford

     Dates & Price
     August 7 (eve) - August 15, 2009
Cost per person is $1995 + GST

The ACC is returning to the spectacular Mt. Sir Sandford area in summer 2009 for one of its most popular camps with crowd-pleasers Roger Laurilla and Cam Roe leading the charge.

This is big country, with huge relief and unbelievable views with climbing routes in the area coming in at all levels and grades.  The trip will begin with a helicopter ride to our camp site where we’ll set up our tents in the area around the Great Cairn-Ben Ferris Hut.  We'll use the hut for cooking meals, eating, and drying gear and spend our nights sleeping in tents. Our primary focus will be on Sir Sandford itself (3422m/11,293’) which tops out as the highest peak in the Columbia Mountains.  We will then direct our attention to other objectives like Mt. Silvertip, Blackfriars Peak, Alpina Dome, Mt Redan,The Citadel and other peaks of the Gothics and Adamants as time and conditions permit.

Sir Sandford is a sought-after prize for those who have caught sight of it from another summit – a worthy objective that will be the highlight of your summer!

Level of Difficulty

This camp is designed for those with substantial mountaineering experience, solid rope-handling skills, considerable experience traveling on glaciers, mixed snow and rock, and exposed fifth-class terrain.  You must have an excellent level of fitness and be able to carry up to a 22kg (50lb) pack for several hours.
