The Tantalus Range offers up a climber’s paradise with dramatic
granite peaks rising from expansive glaciers high above the picturesque
Lake Lovely Water. Located near Squamish BC, the Tantalus Range
is home to a wide variety of scenic peaks that will keep us occupied
and entertained for the week.
Our home for this camp will be the Jim Haberl
Hut, located at 6800ft in the Serratus-Dione Col, just outside of Tantalus
Provincial Park. From
this comfortable and cozy base we’ll pursue intermediate and advanced
climbing objectives in the area such as Tantalus (2603m/8540’),
Dione (2590m/8500’), Serratus (2326m/ 7632’) and Alpha (2305m/7562’). We’ll
fly in and out of the Haberl Hut by helicopter from Squamish, leaving
our knees rested and our backs strong, allowing us to focus our energy
on climbing these magnificent peaks.
This camp offers you the chance to spend a week climbing prime mountaineering
objectives in a remote and rugged area of the Coast Mountains.
Level
of Difficulty
This camp is designed for those
with substantial mountaineering experience, solid rope-handling
skills, considerable experience traveling on glaciers,
mixed snow and rock, and exposed fifth-class terrain. You
must have an excellent level of fitness and be able to
carry up to a 10-14kg (22-30lb) pack for several hours. |
