Balu to Bostock Ski Traverse

Dates & Price
April 1 (eve) - April 4, 2010
Cost per person $895 + GST

Rogers Pass is known for its epic powder and huge terrain and this camp will explore the best of it.

After reviewing avalanche safety procedures on the first morning, we’ll spend the rest of the day experiencing for ourselves what makes Rogers Pass a world-class backcountry ski destination. On day two, we’ll set off up the Connaught Creek drainage toward Balu Pass for the start of the traverse that will take us to some rare stashes in Catamount Creek that are seldomly skied at Rogers Pass. We’ll be setting our sights instead on the longest and less-frequented runs that are more than a day trip for most people, skiing the lines that some people have heard of, but few have experienced. After camping out over night in the middle of the traverse, we’ll continue our quest for steep unskied lines before ultimately ending the traverse at Bostock Creek.

This traverse hits the best of all the ski mountaineering that Rogers Pass has to offer.

Level of Difficulty

This camp is designed for people with some previous ski mountaineering experience. You must have a good level of fitness, be able to comfortably ski the equivalent of blue/intermediate runs at downhill ski areas, and be able to ski with a 16 – 18kg (35 – 40lb) pack for several hours. No glacier gear is required for this trip, making the packs a little lighter, however participants will be expected to share in the carrying of group gear and food.
