For those people who aren’t satisfied
with being a spectator in life - why not cap off your weekend at the
Banff Mountain Film Festival with 4 days of ice climbing with ice climbing
legends Rob Owens and Sean Isaac?
This 4-day camp will kick off your ice climbing
season with some instruction and a whole lot of climbing. Rob, Sean and Camp Manager Dave Dornian
will expand the awareness and repertoire of intermediate to experienced
ice climbers by exposing you to the opportunities, potential and satisfaction
of early-season climbing. A few of the many potential objectives include
ice and mixed routes on Mount Rundle, the Stanley Headwall, R&D,
First Blood, and Lower Louise.
Based out of Banff following the Banff Mountain Film Festival you will
return to the warmth, comfort and hospitality of Banff at the end of
the day to relive your day over a hot meal and a cold beverage.
Turn inspiration into action - this is your chance to LIVE what you
saw on the big screen over the weekend.
Level of Difficulty
While there are plenty of teaching opportunities
during the week, this camp is designed for people with at
least basic rope handling skills and some experience climbing
waterfall ice. |

Assistance Alpine Guide - Matt Mueller |

Camp
Manager Nancy Hansen |
 |
|
|
Matt has spent
the last 15 years climbing, skiing and being tent-bound in some
of the best mountain scenery the continent has to offer. A few
years ago he decided to turn his passion into his profession
and began the trip down the Mountain Guide certification road.
Since then he has spent the majority of his time in the mountains,
either as a professional guide, or on his own trips. His travels
have taken him from the granite coastline of Nova Scotia to the
remote ranges of Alaska and most places in between. As for the
future, Matt plans to finish his UIAGM certification and use
his profession to travel the world and see what the possibilities
are. |

Nancy is the Co-Vice President,
Activites. She was employed at the national office for the ACC
for 11 years as the director of facilities and mountaineering and
has volunteered for the Club for the past 13 years at both the
Section and National levels in many capacities. Nancy earned the
distinction of being the first woman to climb all of the peaks
over 11,000' in the Canadian Rockies. With her strong interest
in the ACC and in mountaineering, she hopes to make a positive
contribution to the ACC's Mountain Adventures program. |
