A unique opportunity to build skills and ski in an all-female setting

While most of us have awesome male trip partners, it can be nice to meet other adventurous women who love the mountains! If you want a chance to develop leadership and technical skills in a supportive environmment, this camp is intended to maximize your learning in female company. Join the ACC on the Wapta Icefield to breathe in the fresh air, strap on your skis and go explore!

Designed and offered for women exclusively, this unique ski camp provides an opportunity to work on winter skills and gain ski-mountaineering experience in an “all female” setting – all participants and staff will be female. This camp is traditionally heavy on instruction; glacier travel, whiteout navigation, crevasse rescue, route finding, track setting, snow stability evaluation, and terrain management. While all these skills are incorporated into the camp there will be plenty of opportunity to ski.

Wapta Icefield – A place like no other

This camp will be taking place on the Wapta Icefield. This area allows a vast array of terrain for optimized learning and skiing. Over the course of six days and five nights, we will visit three of the ACC’s huts in the area. Our first night will be spent at the spacious Bow Hut at the toe of the glacier. For nights 2 and 3, we will traverse the glacier over to the less crowded Balfour Hut. We’ll do a final traverse over to the Peyto Hut for our last two nights. These three areas will allow for plenty of opportunities to see what the Wapta Icefields has to offer: tonnes of snow, wide open glaciers, and more peaks than you can name.

The structure of the camp lets us explore more than just doing the traditional Wapta. Some of the best skiing and touring on  the camp will be had on our daily outings. Some options are skiing Trapper Col, Mt Baker, Mt Habel, Mt Rhondda (South), Mt. Thompson, St Nicholas, Mount Olive (North), Mt. Gordon and skiing on the always-beautiful Diableret Glacier. Come join the ACC on our annual Women’s-Only Ski Camp!
