Wally Joyce

Wallace was an active life member of the ACC. An avid photographer, his 35 mm SLR camera was always at his side. Wally’s extensive photo collection of over 20,000 images was donated to the ACC and is now part by the Whyte Museum collection. He attended 29 General Mountaineering Camps and at least 23 other national and Toronto Section camps. Wally was instrumental in securing a lease of crown lands on the shores of Mazinaw Lake, the site of the Toronto Section’s Bon Echo Hut. Wally also generously left a significant legacy gift to the ACC that will continue to fund, in perpetuity, the alpine adventure and experiences that he was so deeply passionate about.

Wally Joyce was awarded the Alpine Club of Canada’s President’s Award posthumously in 2014.
