Board Roles

 

 
President
The President chairs all Board, Executive Committee, annual and extraordinary meetings of the Club including setting Agendas for such meetings, and co-ordination of Club Activities to enhance the reputation of the Club and further its aims and objects.

Secretary
The Secretary oversees and coordinates the work of the Awards, Legal, and Planning committees, other committees and programs of the ACC related to services as determined by the Board, attends all Board, Executive Committee, Annual and Extraordinary meetings of the Club to take minutes and arrange for their publication as necessary, keeps permanent records, maintains up to date membership lists and publishes the same from time to time, takes care of routine correspondence and sends out all notices of meetings.

Treasurer
The Treasurer oversees and coordinates the work of the Finance, and Endowment committees, and keeps the accounts of the Club in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices.

VP Access & Environment
The Vice President for Access and Environment oversees and co-ordinates the work of the regional section access and environment committees, the Environment Committee Fund and other committees and programs of the ACC related to access and the environment.

VP Activities
The Vice President of Activities' responsibilities include the Summer Camps and Ski Mountaineering committees of the ACC, other committees and programs related to activity as determined by the Board, and rendering such assistance and support to the President as required and requested.

VP Facilities
The Vice President of Facilities oversees and coordinates the work of the Huts and Clubhouse committees, other committees and programs of the ACC related to facilities as determined by the Board.

VP Mountain Culture
The Vice President of Mountain Culture's responsibilities include the celebration of art, science, literature, history and mountain culture in Canada, and oversees and coordinates the work of the Mountain Culture Committee and programs of the ACC related to its history and culture as determined by the Board through the publication of mountain and mountaineering literature and materials.

VP Services
The Vice President of Services oversees and coordinates the work of the Education, Expeditions, Scientific Research and Sport Climbing committees, Club's Leadership development program and relationships with the UIAA, Competition Mountaineering Sports, the Banff Centre for Mountaineering, Safety and Alberta Sections Committees

Director of External Relations
The Director of External Relations represent the alpine Club of Canada to other clubs and organizations, both domestic and foreign, and to report back to the Executive Committee on any pertinent matters.

Honorary President
the Honourary President is an ex-officio member of the Executive who Performs Ceremonial duties such as Public Appearances and giving speeches on behalf of the Alpine Club of Canada.

Past President
Having previously served as a President of the Alpine Club of canada, the Past President provides continuity between past and current executives and is the chair of the Nominating Committee for the next President. Additionally, the Past President leads projects that will benefit the club but do not fall under any of the other portfolios.

Section Representatives
A Section Representative from each section is elected by the section to a two year term to ensure regional representation on the Board.

National Office
The role of the National Office in Canmore is to provide management, operational and administrative support services in accordance with Club plans, priorities and budgets set by the Board of Directors.
