Director, Club Services

 

 
REPORTS TO:  Executive Director, National Office
LOCATION: Canmore, Alberta
START DATE: Immediate

Providing leadership to volunteers, key stakeholders and direct reports, you are responsible for the development, organization, and management of the following National programs:

Mountain Adventures Program
 
  • organization, marketing and budgeting of guided and catered summer and winter mountaineering camps, international camps and leadership development programs
  • revising and upgrading all policies, handbooks and information packages related to registrations, insurance, camp descriptions and staffing
  • distribution and analysis of monthly statistics
  • quarterly and, on request, financial projections and year-to-date budget information
Member Services Program
  Membership
 
  • membership recruitment and retention
  • marketing of ACC and benefits of membership
  • special projects e.g. Membership Commission liaison, surveys
  • section communication and support
  • new section inquiries
  • Student Outdoor Club program
  • ACC Heritage Club program
  • service awards
  Access and Environment
 
  • liaison for the ACC’s National Access and Environment Coordinating Committee
  Financial Grants
 
  • coordination, processing, administration and liaising with appropriate Committees for all ACC financial grants
  Executive Committee and Board of Directors
 
  • meeting, planning, organizing, coordinating agendas and minutes (four times per year)
  • liaison with local ACC Section representatives on the Board of Directors
  Merchandise
 
  • operation and coordination of the ACC merchandise program, including inventory, sales, order-taking, mailout and identifying/acquiring new merchandise items/lines
  Alberta Sections Program
 
  • coordination and liaison with ACC volunteers from each of the Alberta Sections and the Alberta Government
  • annual budgeting and production of year-end statements, summary report and application for the following year’s funding
Departmental finances
 
  • budget preparation, projections, and accountability
  • approval of expenditures
  • cheque signing
Human Resources Management
  Supervisory responsibility for:
 
  • Mountain Adventures Coordinator
  • Club Services Administration Assistant
  • Guiding staff as appropriate
  • other staff as assigned
Special Projects
......
  • as determined by the Executive Director

Preferred skills:

  • Financial management and budgeting
  • Program development and implementation
  • Proven leadership in human resource management
  • Experience in mountaineering
  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills (in English)
  • Strong computer skills
  • Post secondary education
  • Experience in a not for profit, membership-based organization is preferred,
    but not essential
