ACC Commemorative Monument
July 8th, 2006
Yoho Pass, Yoho National Park

On July 8 1906, one hundred and forty aspirant members of the Alpine Club of Canada (ACC) traveled on the Canadian Pacific Railway to the Field Station in Yoho National Park. From the Field Station the group traveled on foot to the first General Mountaineering Camp located at Summit Lake (now Yoho Lake). From this camp the Club started a tradition that was to last One Hundred years. A century later the club is still engaging in teaching mountain craft, utilizing the services of mountain guides and climbing mountains!

In addition, the Club started a tradition of environmental stewardship that was to help shape and preserve our national parks. In order to celebrate this event the ACC will build a stone monument at Yoho Lake to commemorate 100 years of Leadership and Adventure.
