Ski Week Lotteries

The Bill Putnam (Fairy Meadow) Hut and Kokanee Glacier Cabin in winter are helicopter-access, self-catering backcountry skiing huts. For details on the huts and their facilities, as well as the terrain, please see the Fairy Meadow Hut page or the Kokanee Glacier Cabin page.

About Fairy Meadow Ski Weeks

  • Traveling in the Fairy Meadow area in winter is recommended only for advanced-intermediate and expert skiers with backcountry experience.
  • Rates: $1,000 per person, per week. Includes return flights and 7 nights accommodation. Travel days are Saturdays. This will appear on the invoice as Saturday to Friday, as the booking indicates the “nights” booked.
  • The maximum weight for all items (other than people) is 100 lbs per person. All baggage will be weighed and your group may be asked to leave gear behind if your group is over the weight limit. Your group will be charged for additional helicopter flights that are required due to excessive weight.
  • Lottery applications must be for groups of a minimum of 4 people. Group size must include all people, including guides and cooks.
  • Some weeks in the lottery may have limited capacity (not the full 20) available.

About Kokanee Glacier Ski Weeks

  • Traveling in the Kokanee Glacier Park backcountry area in winter is recommended only for advanced-intermediate and expert skiers with backcountry experience.
  • Rates: $1,000 per person, per week. Includes return flights and 7 nights accommodation. Travel days are Saturdays. This will appear on the invoice as Saturday to Friday, as the booking indicates the nights booked.
  • The maximum weight for all items (other than people) is 100 lbs per person. All baggage will be weighed and your group may be asked to leave gear behind if your group is over the weight limit. Your group will be charged for additional helicopter flights that are required due to excessive weight.
  • Winter hut capacity is 15 people and lottery applications must be for the full hut.
  • It is not permitted to operate an advertised commercial venture within Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park. Individuals may hire professional guides for their trips, but guides may not book and resell places at the hut.

 

Lottery - General Guidelines for 2017 (both huts)

  • The only way to enter the lotteries is to use the online system here
  • Lottery applications are accepted for weeks starting Saturday, Dec 23rd, 2017, through the week beginning April 28th, 2018.
  • Application fee is $15 for every week requested (regardless of the size of the group).
  • Multiple entries for a week may be made by groups wishing to increase their odds of winning. Each additional entry is subject to the $15 application fee.
  • Multiple entries for one week, or for multiple weeks, can be made on the same application.
  • A winner for each week will be selected along with first and second runners-up. Winners and runners-up will be notified as per the timetable below.
  • The winning applicant in the lottery will be the group leader and will be the liaison between the group and the Alpine Club of Canada. The winning applicant will also be responsible for making all deposits and final payments. All payments once made are non-refundable.

Winter 2017-18 lottery dates and times:

  • The lottery opens for applications on April 1, 2017 at 9 a.m. and closes at midnight MST on May 15, 2018.
  • All winners and the first two runners-up for each week of the lottery will be contacted by May 26th, 2017. Please do not contact the ACC to see if you’ve won.
  • If the winner accepts the week, their deposit must be received by June 9th, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) MST.
  • Weeks that are declined by the lottery winners will be made available to that week’s first runners-up on June 12th, 2017. The deposit deadline for first runners-up is June 19th, 2017, 12:00 p.m. (noon) MST.
  • All space not secured by winners and runner-ups will be available for general booking on June 20th, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. MST. Interested parties can book by calling the ACC front desk at 403-678-3200, ext 0. Deposits for general bookings are required at the time of booking.

Ski Week Payments

  • At time of booking a 20% non-refundable deposit is required.
  • Final payment is due 90 days prior to trip departure, and will be charged automatically to the credit card used for the deposit.
  • Post-dated cheques will be accepted for final payments if arrangements are made at time of booking.
  • The ACC reserves the right to cancel bookings in the case of late payments.
  • All payments are to be made by the trip leader in one payment. We do not accept individual payments.
  • Pricing is subject to change without notice.

Ski Week Cancellations

  • All payments for ski weeks are 100% non-refundable once processed.
  • The ACC does not refund or discount any ski week bookings due to weather, flight delays or other situations beyond our control.
  • The Alpine Club of Canada reserves the right to cancel any trip.
  • Dates are non-transferable.

Travel Insurance

  • The Alpine Club of Canada strongly recommends Trip Cancellation/Trip Interruption Insurance for ski week bookings.
  • The ACC sells Trip Cancellation & Trip Interruption Insurance through TuGo that provides coverage for a variety of unexpected travel expenses.
