 Lawrence Grassi Hut

Lawrence Grassi Hut, Mt. Clemenceau to north

Lawrence Grassi Hut , Clemenceau Icefield

Very remote base for mountaineering and ski touring. Access is 3-5 days on foot or skiis, or by helicopter or plane. Class B, sleeps 18 (16 in winter).

The hut is located south of the Clemenceau Icefield, on the southeast end of Cummins Ridge, SSW of Mt. Clemenceau. It is located in one of the most remote areas of the Canadian Rockies and is certainly the most remote hut in the ACC chain. Access is by helicopter, ski-plane or by a very long overland route in both summer and winter. The mountaineering and ski touring in the area are outstanding.

The Grassi Hut is a heavy duty, high altitude, metal-sided, Gothic arch structure with a view of some of the biggest and wildest peaks in the Rockies. The interior is a single room with a double sleeping platform for18 people (16 in winter). There are tables, benches a large kitchen area and an oil burning stove for heat.
