Tantalus Hut

The hut is located in Tantalus Provincial Park on the east (outflow) end of Lake Lovely Water in the Tantalus Range of the BC Coast Mountains, approximately 64 km (40 miles) northwest of Vancouver. There are excellent mountaineering objectives and additional opportunities for swimming, canoeing and fishing.

The hut is a two-storey wooden structure with a large kitchen / living room on the main floor and a sleeping loft with foam mattresses for 20 people above. The kitchen is equipped with propane cooking as well as cooking and eating utensils. There is a dock nearby with two large rowboats and a canoe.

Access to the Lake Lovely Water trail requires crossing the Squamish River. There are a number of options:

  • Boat service is available; call 604-898-3356.
  • Float plane access is available from Whistler, provided by Whistler Air (1-888-806-2299 or info@whistlerair.ca).
  • Helicopter access is available from Squamish, and can be arranged by contacting Omega Aviation 604-898-1067 or Black Tusk Helicopters 604-898-4800.

Open: Late May to early Oct (typically Victoria Day to Thanksgiving Day weekends)

$15 per night for ACC members (send a photocopy of your membership card) and
$25 per person per night for non-members. Reservations are mandatory. Rates subject to change without notice.
