Please note: The Board of Directors of The Alpine Club of Canada has decided that all Endowment Fund grant monies from 2003 to 2006 inclusive will be set aside and applied towards club projects during the club's upcoming centennial year in 2006. Those projects include such endeavours as a possible special centennial issue of the Canadian Alpine Journal, financial support for the UIAA Annual Congress meeting to be held in Canada in 2006, and so on. The full list of projects is being developed by the Centennial Committee.

As a result, Endowment Fund grant applications will not be accepted until further notice.

The application deadline is January 31st of each year.

Annual interest from the fund will be applied to projects or uses as approved by the Board of Directors upon recommendation of the ACC Endowment Committee. Projects may be of either a capital or operating nature, but must be consistent with the goals and aims of the Club. This would include funding for expeditions, huts projects, special publications, Section projects or equipment, special camps, etc. Normal criteria for projects would include:

1. Sponsorship and involvement of ACC members.
2. Relevance to ACC current goals and objectives.
3. Applicants' ability to successfully carry out the project.
4. Creativity and innovation.
5. Positive impact upon Canadian and/or world mountaineering.

Projects not normally eligible for funding would include:

1. Bad debt retirement
2. Investments
3. Receptions or entertainment.
4. Expenses for past activities.
5. Projects of a long-term nature, implying financial commitment for the fund beyond one year.

Decisions regarding the dispersement of each year's grants is usually made at the May Board of Directors meeting. Applications should be addressed to the attention of the Endowment Fund and sent to the national ACC Office. Applications for Endowment Funds must be made in writing before the application deadline. A final narrative and financial report will be required of all Fund recipients. Where appropriate the written report may be required for submission to the CAJ or similar club publication.
