Life Membership

A complimentary life membership is available to Alpine Club of Canada members who are 65 years of age or older and who have been a member of the Club on a continuous basis for 25 years or more.

The benefits of life membership include:

  • a complimentary basic membership in the Club
  • a complimentary “huts option” upgrade to basic membership, giving the life member the use of Alpine Club of Canada huts:
    • at the lowest available rates and
    • with the best advance booking privileges
  • a complimentary subscription to the Club’s annual Canadian Alpine Journal
  • an attractive ACC Life Member pin
  • a laminated ACC Life Member card.

Those who wish to have their regular Club membership converted to a life membership are required to contact the ACC National Office in writing and make such a request. The request needs to contain a statement as to the applicant’s age/year of birth and the year that he/she began their period of continuous membership with the Club.

In situations where one person involved in an existing "Family" membership with the Club qualifies for a life membership but others in that "Family" membership do not, the Club will:

  • provide a life membership to the individual who qualifies, and
  • convert the existing "Family" membership to the appropriate type of regular Club membership so that it covers those other than the life member. For example, if a couple has a "Family" membership and one of them qualifies for a life membership, the existing Family membership will be converted to an "Adult" membership for the partner of the life member.

Questions regarding the Club’s life membership program should be directed to the Director, Member Services, in the Club’s National Office at .

Heritage Members

Every summer, the Alpine Club of Canada celebrates those members who have been with the Club for 25, 35 and 50 years. The Club recognizes these members with a special lapel pin, with the 25 and 35-year members receiving an attractive certificate suitable for framing and the 50-year members receiving a handsome wall plaque.
