A New National Partnership with ENEQ

The Alpine Club of Canada is pleased to announce the launch of an important collaboration with Ecole Nationale d'Escalade du Québec (ENEQ) to make UIAA-certified standards for voluntary leaders and instructors in mountain sports available to its members across Canada.

At the ACC Spring Board of Directors meeting, held in Canmore, Alberta on May 15th, representatives from ENEQ participated in an exciting discussion about the future of volunteer training in Canada.  As a result of these discussions, ACC and ENEQ members have agreed to begin working, this summer, on plans to launch ENEQ courses through the ACC’s network of 20 Sections across Canada, likely in early 2011. 

The ACC and ENEQ will also begin discussions on organizational arrangements to formalize this national training initiative through the ACC’s Centre for Canadian Mountaineering.

Commenting on the ACC/ENEQ agreement, ACC President Peter Muir noted that, “ENEQ has created an impressive training system that the Club is very pleased to be involved with.  Access to UIAA-certified training for voluntary leaders and instructors will be a real benefit to our Club sections and to our members.  It is clear that ENEQ and the ACC share a common vision for the future of our sport, and we are very pleased to be working with them on this project.”

In light of the ACC /ENEQ agreement, ENEQ President Ronald Whitehead noted that, “ENEQ has enjoyed working closely over the years with some of the eastern ACC sections such as Outaouais, Montreal and Ottawa on their training.  We are very enthusiastic about the future of this collaboration on the national level, in order to help support all of the sections' needs in training for their members.  With its long standing history in mountaineering, the ACC's national involvement will undoubtedly bring a strong mountaineering contribution to the current UIAA certified programs.”

Le CAC est heureux d'annoncer le lancement d'une importante collaboration avec l'ENEQ pour mettre à la disposition de ses membres un programme de formation des leaders bénévoles et des instructeurs en sports de montagne certifié UIAA.

À la réunion du conseil d'administration du CAC, tenue ce printemps à Canmore, en Alberta, le 15 mai, des représentants de l’ENEQ ont participé à une discussion animée sur l'avenir de la formation des leaders bénévoles au Canada. À la suite de ces pourparlers, les représentants du  CAC et de l’ENEQ ont convenu de commencer à travailler, cet été, sur un plan de dissémination des cours du programme de formation de l’ENEQ dans les 20 sections du CAC réparties dans tout le Canada.  Ces cours seront vraisemblablement offerts au début de 2011.

Le CAC et l’ENEQ ont également entamé des discussions sur les modalités de changements organisationnels afin d’officialiser cette initiative de formation pancanadienne en l’intégrant au Centre canadien de l’alpinisme du CAC.

Commentant l'accord ACC / ENEQ, le président du CAC, Peter Muir a mentionné que : «L’ENEQ a créé un impressionnant système de formation auquel le club est très heureux de participer. L’accès à une formation certifiée UIAA pour les leaders bénévoles et les instructeurs sera un réel avantage pour nos sections et nos membres. Il est clair que l’ENEQ et le CAC partage une vision commune pour l'avenir de notre sport, et nous sommes très heureux de travailler avec eux sur ce projet. »

À propos du même accord, le président de l’ENEQ, Ronald Whitehead a ajouté que: «L’ENEQ a aimé travailler en étroite collaboration avec certaines sections du CAC au cours des années, particulièrement avec celle de l’est, les sections Outaouais, Montréal et Ottawa. Nous sommes très enthousiastes quant à l'avenir de cette collaboration au niveau national, afin d'aider à soutenir les besoins des sections pour la formation de leurs membres. Avec sa riche expérience en milieu alpin, le CAC apportera certainement, avec sa participation, une nouvelle dimension d’alpinisme aux programmes déjà certifiés UIAA.»
