Newsletter: The Silver Ice Axe

The Jasper / Hinton Section serves members from all over west central and northern Alberta and British Columbia.  Most of the section activities take place in and around Jasper National Park from the eastern slopes of the Alberta Rockies to the Mt. Robson area, and south to the David Thompson area.

Section activities go year round and include hiking, scrambling, summer and winter backcountry trips, alpine rock and sport climbing, general mountaineering and waterfall ice climbs.  The section also offers courses in avalanche awareness, wilderness travel, snow and ice mountaineering, and leadership skills.  There are lots of opportunities for beginners at rock or ice climbing, or anyone interested in exploring this area of the Rockies.

Section general meetings are held twice a year, along with the publication of the section newsletter, "The Silver Ice Axe", that contains the latest trip schedule (also available online or by contacting the section executive).  All members from any section are invited to participate in section trips or activities.

As a section we encourage members to become more involved and appreciate anyone that would like to help out with section activities.  This section has a lot to offer to anyone that wants to enjoy this part of the mountains.
