Geoff Bennett

Geoff was an active member of the ACC-VI executive committee until 2012, serving as the treasurer for 9 years. During this time, he oversaw the growth of the Section’s account balance and set up a contingency fund for the surplus, which he continues to monitor. As treasurer, Geoff also set up a Memorial Fund with donations made to honour the passing of prominent club members. Under his leadership this fund has grown to the point where it is able to fund $1000 per year to successful youth applicants for approved expeditions. Geoff has overseen the award committee and dispersal of funds every year since its inception. Geoff also helped in the fundraising for the Section hut on 5040 Peak by contacting each member of the Section personally. Through his work with the Memorial Fund, he became involved in the relationship between ACC-VI and the First Nations ‘Warrior Youth' program. This partnership led to the choice of name for the hut, Hišimy̓awiƛ, being formally recognized in a naming ceremony at the hut, which Geoff helped to organize in October 2019.
