The 31st Mountain Guides Ball

The Mountain Guides Ball is an annual gala event of The Alpine Club of Canada (ACC) and the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG) that brings together the mountain community to celebrate our mountain culture and raise funds for the ACC’s Leadership Development Fund.

The Mountain Guides Ball will be back in-person this year on Oct 28th at the Banff Centre and help kick-off the 2022 Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival.

Since its inception, the ACC’s Summer Leadership Development Course presented by The North Face at the GMC has been shaped and led by one of the longest standing and most experienced Canadian mountain guides: Cyril Shokoples. Raised on the Alberta prairies, Cyril’s guiding legacy now spans more than three decades and multiple generations of mountain lovers. He’s a passionate and talented teacher and who leaves participants with a fresh appreciation of the risk and rewards of life in the mountains. You can learn more about Cyril here.

100% of proceeds from the Mountain Guides Ball and the Summit Bid Auction are directed to the ACC’s Leadership Development Fund.

The purpose of the Leadership Development is to promote and facilitate the delivery of leadership related training to ACC members across Canada through the Alpine Club of Canada. This includes our North Face Leadership Program, technical training handbooks, educational scholarships/grants, and Section leader resources.

The Mountain Guides Ball to kickstart the 2022 BMFF.

This year the Mountain Guides Ball will take place in the Banff Centre at the Kinnear Centre, immediately preceding the festival! Celebrate our MGB patron, newly pinned ACMG mountain guides and take part in a decadent dinner before enjoying #nineepicdays of mountain culture and good times with other like-minded guests.
