Coronavirus information for ACC facilities

The Alpine Club of Canada is closely monitoring the situation with the coronavirus both in Canada and internationally. This page will be updated as new information becomes available.

ACC Facilities Policies

ACC Facilities has comprehensive refund and cancellation policies. These policies can be found here. We encourage all of our guests to be familiar with our policies before booking.

While the Public Health Agency of Canada has assessed the current public health risk associated with coronavirus as low, we understand that some of our guests may not be comfortable traveling to shared backcountry facilities at this time. For all hut bookings during the period of March 13 to June 13, 2020, the ACC is offering 100% credit for all applied payments for those who wish to cancel their bookings. Credit can then be redeemed for any hut stay for a one-year period beginning the first overnight of the original booking.

Our guests are asked to call our reservations line at (403) 678-3200 ext 0 for more information or to make arrangements.

ACC Backcountry Huts

We are closely monitoring the situation through Health Canada and we are following their suggested precautions.

What we are doing to prepare

  • Training additional Custodians and Ambassadors and increasing their presence at our huts to share proper hut etiquette and cleaning practices with our guests.
  • Increasing communication on hut cleaning practices to our guests,
  • Increasing the supply of cleaning products at backcountry huts.
  • Including deep cleaning on our maintenance trips to huts.

What you can do

  • If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, please refrain from visiting our huts.
  • Prepare and be self-sufficient in regards to cleaning and personal hygiene while at the hut.
  • While visiting our huts, please exercise heightened awareness of infectious areas and increase your attention to the cleanliness in the hut.
  • We recommend:
    • If you become sick after visiting an ACC hut, please let us know so that we may contact the other guests in the hut.
    • If you become sick during a trip, please make efforts to socially distance yourself from other guests, eat and sleep two meters away from other guests and depart from your backcountry trip at the earliest possible opportunity.

ACC Canmore Clubhouse

The Canmore Clubhouse is also the location of the ACC's National Office. We maintain a very clean environment at all times and have won awards for our cleanliness.

What we are doing to prepare

  • Increasing our cleaning and disinfecting procedures throughout the Clubhouse, particularly for high-contact areas.
  • Notifying all of our guests to watch for symptoms and reconsider travel if unwell.
  • Providing guests with flu-like symptoms a private room.
  • Providing all guest parties with private rooms whenever possible.
Note: We are not accepting any new reservations for the Canmore Clubhouse property (including the Bell Cabin and the Boswell Cabin) through March 31.

What you can do

Notify our staff if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms. We will do our best to isolate you and your group in a private room.
We are asking all of our camp participants to help us in the following ways:
