Experience Terrain Usually Reserved for Heli-Accessed Lodges

Rogers Pass is one of the undoubted capitals of North American ski touring. The sheer amount of powder, vertical and terrain types makes it a must-do destination for those with prior backcountry experience looking to push it to the next level.

Due to popular demand, this year we will be running TWO powder camps to Rogers Pass! For more advanced backcountry skiers and/or those who have visited the Pass before, the Asulkan edition offers you the chance to stay at high altitude each night and tackle some more challenging objectives. It is available in two formats: Mon-Fri (for those looking to spend a week in the area) and Fri-Sun (for those looking for a quick extended-weekend powder fix). Those with less backcountry skiing experience should consider our Wheeler Edition.

Let us take care of the food, accommodation and guiding arrangements and join us on this true ACC Adventure this winter!

Camp Objectives

The Asulkan Cabin is located at the head of the Asulkan Valley at Rogers Pass in Glacier National Park, and has a roughly 3-5 hour approach (potentially longer with fresh snow).

Classic objectives from the hut include: The Seven Steps of Paradise, Paradise, Asulkan Pass, Pterodactyl, Sapphire Col and the Dome Glacier.

Day by Day Adventure Itinerary
  • Day 1: Meet at 7am PST at the Rogers Pass Visitor Centre where those who need to can pick up their permits. After an orientation from the guide, you will travel up to the Asulkan Cabin and hopefully have some extra time for turns/moderate objectives en route or upon arrival at the hut.
  • Days 2-4: Each morning will see the group setting off early for one of the classic objectives of the upper Asulkan Valley. Our guides will select which objectives to target based on conditions, weather and group input.
  • Day 5: You will enjoy a fifth and final day of Rogers Pass powder before returning to your vehicles and debriefing with your guide. We aim to try finish the day around 5pm at the latest to give people time to return home that night.
Is this Camp For Me?
Intermediate - Advanced
This camp is designed for skiers with more advanced ability and/or more experience of the region than our Rogers Pass Wheeler Edition.

An advanced level of fitness, confident downhill ski abilities in variable snow conditions including deep powder, and familiarity with avalanche transceivers are essential for your enjoyment.
Food, Accommodation and Guiding

Evenings will be spent enjoying great food and socializing in cozy hut surroundings as you reset for the next day’s skiing. Food supplies will be carried or sledded in by porter at the start of the camp to reduce pack loads and allow for more fresh ingredients. Our fresh food is pre-prepared by Bow Valley cooks who specialize in creating meals for backcountry adventures. Creative and nutritious freeze-dried food is provided by Happy Yak out of Montreal.

Two nights at each hut let you sample the best of Rogers Pass. The Wheeler hut offers a quick approach from the car, and a cozy, historic building. Your group will have the chance to socialize and exchange stories with other skiers. In the Asulkan hut (elevation 2100m), you can look forward to spectacular views over the valley and less time spent travelling to and from the alpine. This makes successful ascents of many of the higher altitude objectives in the valley much more likely and convenient. The hut is a beautiful panabode-style building which sleeps 10- your group will be on their own! The stove, lighting and heat are all fuelled by propane. Both huts are stocked with cooking and eating utensils and sleeping pads.

Our female ACMG certified ski or full mountain guides will ensure your adventure is both safe and enjoyable. Our guides will be welcome to answering questions about the region as well as everything from ski technique to gear.

  • I give the camp 4 out of 4 for overall camp experience!
  • Highlight of the camp was the powder skiing and excellent guiding.
  • The staff were very patient with all my questions, and I feel that I learnt a lot.
  • I really liked the group, everyone was nice and friendly and the location was beautiful.
