Fully-Guided, Hut-Based Trip of a Lifetime Across one of the Great Glacial Expanses in the Rockies
The Wapta Traverse is perhaps the most iconic multi-day ski tour in North America. A journey in the truest sense of the word, you will travel hut-to-hut across the length of the Wapta and Waputik Icefields with the opportunity to climb ski mountaineering summits and cut deep powder turns along the way.
Our traverse will follow the classic Wapta itinerary, from north to south. Starting at Peyto Lake, you will ascend to Peyto Hut before making your way across the two icefields and sleeping at four alpine huts before descending to the highway near West Louise Lodge. At 45km, the Wapta can easily be completed in 2-3 days by a strong party, however, our itinerary gives you the chance to really explore the area and climb and ski off multiple spectacular summits - what really makes the Wapta special. We've been running the Wapta traverse for almost as long as we've had huts, and past parties have covered nearly all of the Wapta ski mountaineering objectives: Collie, Ayesha, St. Nicholas, Rhondda, Olive, Gordon, Portal, and more. If you've already done the Wapta, come back for a second year to take another crack at the Wapta peaks!
Let us take care of the food, accommodation and guiding arrangements and join us on this true ACC Adventure this winter!
