André was instrumental in advocating for the inception of Le Club
d’escalade de Saint-Boniface (CESB) as a section of the ACC in 1993, and
has remained as its Chair and section rep since that time. The creation
of the Saint-Boniface section was a watershed in the introduction of
Canada’s second official language to Canada’s national mountaineering
organization, a legacy that the ACC continues to build upon today. He
has been instrumental in organizing annual section trips to the Rocky
Mountains, the creation and operation of the Saint-Boniface ice tower
and the indoor gym of École Précieux-Sang. He is also the current Chair
of the national Awards Committee. He is a Life Member of both the
Saint-Boniface and Manitoba sections.
André Mahé was awarded the Alpine Club of Canada’s Distinguished Service Award in 2002 and in 2013.
