Andy Strangemann has been active in rock climbing, ice climbing, ski mountaineering and alpinism for the past 30 years; ascending many peaks, not only in Canada, but also in Europe, Nepal and Tibet. Ever since Andy joined the ACC in 1985, he has been leading climbing and mountaineering trips for the Calgary Section all the while demonstrating his mastery of technical mountaineering skills through his leadership on a variety of difficult trips. Not only has he been a major contributor to the section’s Trip Coordinator Handbook, Andy continues to be intimately involved in the mentoring of future leaders for the section. As Chair of the Training and Leadership Committee he feels that his principle role is to nurture, facilitate and encourage fellow members to be strong and capable leaders. He has worked diligently for decades for the ACC and is strongly committed to it.
