Doug Sims has been a trip leader for the Rocky Mountain Section for
the last 9 years. He actively leads trips both summer (climbing and
scrambling) and winter (ice climbing and ski touring). His strong
leadership and technical skills, as well as, his willingness to pass on
those skills to participants and his good decision making ability make
him a very popular leader. Doug has also been for the past 8 years the
Chair of the Volunteer Grants Committee, a committee responsible for
allocating grants to volunteers who attend courses to improve their
leadership and technical skills.
Doug was awarded The Alpine Club of Canada’s Don Forest Service Award in 2015.
