Sandy Walker

Sandy Walker has been a leader of climbing, mountaineering and skiing
trips for the past 10 years, first for the Calgary Section and since
2008 for the Rocky Mountain Section. Sandy has been an amateur leader at
the General Mountaineering Camps since 2008. She has also been the camp
manager for several winter trips and for three international
expeditions. Sandy is a talented amateur leader who possesses excellent
technical abilities in climbing, skiing and mountaineering. She is very
knowledgeable in the areas of navigation, evaluation of alpine terrain
and weather conditions. Sandy is a great teacher; her actions and
attitude demonstrate a desire to share the skills she has gained over
the years from participating in ACC programs. The Rockies Orientated
Climbing Knowledge (ROCK) program that she initiated and developed is a
testimony to her desire to help others learn how to travel safely in the
backcountry.
Sandy Walker was awarded the Alpine Club of Canada’s Silver Rope for Leadership in 2013 and Distinguished Service Award in 2009.
