ACC Eco Star Award

The ACC's Eco Star initiative is intended to highlight the great work that ACC members are doing all across Canada – and beyond – to mitigate ecological impacts from outdoor pursuits and to share those stories to inspire others to take action.

This ACC-wide award is focused on highlighting members of our regional sections that go above and beyond to promote sustainability in their adventures and activities. Members are encouraged to nominate (or self-nominate) another member that they believe fulfills the criteria of this award. Each month we will feature an Alpine Club of Canada Eco Star!

How to Nominate

Send an email to, before the 15th of each month, including:

  • Member first and last name
  • The name of the ACC section they are a member of and how long they have been an ACC member
  • Their hometown
  • 100-200 words describing why they are nominating said individual for the award, using specific examples. (Ex. Patching worn out gear instead of buying new, dehydrating meals and sustainable meal prep, carpooling practices, etc.)
  • Photo of the nominee putting their sustainable practices to action or simply a photo of the nominee in the outdoors.

We'll post monthly winners of the Eco Star Award here, beginning with June, 2019.
