Hut Booking Policies - Winter 2022/3 (Coming soon)

Last update (Sept 27th 2022, 9:30am MST) : We preparing for Winter 2022/23 bookings, but are not taking bookings yet - thanks for your patience! Booking openings will first be announced on the Hut Insider newsletter.

The ACC has made changes to our huts and our booking system for winter 2022. We thank all of our members and our community for including ACC hut bookings in your winter plans.

As you plan backcountry adventures at ACC huts, please consider the current, and potential future, provincial COVID guidelines and restrictions for group sizes and travel. We ask that you avoid making assumptions that life will be ‘back to normal’ by the time of your hut booking, but rather to plan for a continuation of ‘unpredictable’ restrictions from provincial governments.

We are taking a firm stance on requiring all of our users to abide by all health regulations and we do this in support of our government agencies, our health care system, local businesses and the collective health of our community.

We thank you for doing your part.

Our huts are available for booking requests by ACC members as well as the general public. Reservations are required for all bookings.

How Hut Bookings Work - Winter 2022

Exclusive Bookings

All facilities bookings are exclusive bookings.
  • All ACC facilities are booked on an exclusive, whole hut basis, meaning you are booking the facility, and that prices are not based on number of beds or occupants.
  • Orders and provincial guidelines for gatherings may change between the time of booking and scheduled arrival date. During your stay, all facility users must meet the current guidelines and restrictions for gatherings, even if those guidelines and restrictions limit group size to less than facility capacities.
  • The ACC reserves the right to revoke any bookings that do not comply with the current Order(s) or provincial guidelines from the day of arrival, and throughout the stay at our facilities.
  • Check-out time for all facilities is 11:00am. All belongings must be removed by this time. Check-in time is 3:00pm. Please do not enter the hut prior to this time.

Structured Booking Schedule

The ACC's most popular huts (Elizabeth Parker, Stanley Mitchell, Bow, Wheeler, Asulkan, Fryatt, Elk Lakes, Cameron Lake, Jacques Lake) are booked on a structured schedule. Reservations are limited to the following stays each week:
  • 3 nights (arriving Friday, checking out Monday).
  • 2 nights (arriving Monday, checking out Wednesday).
  • 2 nights (arriving Wednesday, checking out Friday).
  • Any combination of these stays to a maximum of five nights.
The Parks Canada bus to Lake O'Hara (and the Elizabeth Parker Hut) is not running during this period.

Unstructured bookings schedule

Our less busy and more remote huts (Guy, Peyto, Balfour, Scott Duncan, Sapphire Col, Glacier Circle and Great Cairn) are available to book with the following requirements:
  • Winter bookings at these 7 huts are open to single or multiple night bookings with no schedule and no minimum number of nights.

Covid and your Group

COVID-19 Health Questionnaire

All booked parties will be required to submit names for each member of their party, as well as confirm the health of those individuals. This will be sent out 5 days prior to your arrival and must be received within 24 hours of your arrival to the facility.

The ACC may revoke any booking for which we have not received a completed Health Questionnaire before arrival at the facility.

What to do in case of COVID symptoms

If anyone in your party experiences any COVID-like symptoms during your stay (fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, shortness of breath), you must immediately vacate the facility and travel directly to your place of origin to follow up with your local health authority for possible testing for COVID-19. You are required to immediately contact the ACC to inform us of your situation. Any associated costs are not the responsibility of the ACC.

Payments, Changes and Cancellations - Winter 2022

  • For multi-night stays and facility bookings made more than 30 days in advance, the first night's rate will be collected as a non-refundable reservation fee at the time of booking, and the balance will be processed as a non-refundable full and final payment 30 days before the first overnight.
  • For single night stays and facility bookings that are made less than 30 days in advance, the full balance will be collected as a non-refundable full and final payment at time of booking.
  • For Canmore Clubhouse bookings, balances are processed 48 hours prior to arrival rather than 30 days.
  • Valid facility credits, in the booking party’s name, will be accepted as payment and applied to a booking as non-refundable reservation fee and/or non-refundable full and final payment options.

The reservation fee and final payment covers the costs associated with the facilities and the preparations necessary for the intended stay. These costs are incurred whether the trip is utilized or not, for whatever reason. As such, once these funds are received, these services are deemed to have been rendered and that portion of the service agreement concluded. The reservation fee and final payment are not deposits. They are the cost(s) of business rendered on behalf of the booking party and is not refundable in any event.

  • Dates are non-transferrable. Changes to any bookings, in whole or in part, (including but not limited to a reduction in overnight stays) will be treated as a cancellation and will follow those same terms and conditions (below).
  • Bookings are not transferrable to another party.

  • All cancellations must be submitted through our online cancellation form - found here. Once reservation fees and full and final payments are received, they are 100% non-refundable and final. The same policies apply to the use of facility credits. Any payment by facility credit is considered 100% non-refundable full and final payment.
  • Cancellation forms received more than 30 days prior to the arrival date (for backcountry hut reservations) or more than 48 hours prior to the arrival date (for Clubhouse reservations) will be cancelled and no further payments will be processed by the ACC. The reservation fee that was processed at the time of booking will not be refunded.
  • Cancellation forms received less than 30 days prior to the arrival date (for backcountry hut reservations) or less that 48 hours prior to the arrival date (for Canmore Clubhouse reservations) will be cancelled and no refunds will be issued.
  • Reservations paid with ACC facility credits are not eligible for refunds. Payment by facility credit is considered a 100% non-refundable full and final payment.
  • All paid National Park Wilderness Passes attached to a cancelled booking will be 100% refunded.
  • The ACC does not refund or discount any booking(s) due to weather, wildlife, delay, early departure, imposed closures or restrictions, or for any other reason(s) beyond our control.
  • Credits, refunds, and/or deferrals will not be considered for any cancellation for any reason whatsoever. This policy applies to all cancellations including those arising due to inclement weather, poor road conditions, accidents, highway re-routing, illness, trail closures, and any other situation beyond our control. The ACC recommends the purchase of trip cancellation insurance.
  • The ACC reserves the right to cancel any bookings at our discretion.

The ACC highly recommends trip cancellation and trip interruption insurance to those booking our facilities. In the event that you are forced to cancel your booking due to an emergency this would likely cover you for the cost of non-refundable reservation fees or the non-refundable full and final payment on facility bookings, as well as any accompanying travel arrangements.
