BOOKING FOR SKI TRAVERSES

Experience the most iconic hut-to-hut ski traverses in North America.

Wapta Traverse

The Wapta Traverse is a multi-day expedition that involves staying at up to four different huts along the route. The journey commences at the Peter and Catharine Whyte (Peyto) Hut, where participants embark on their adventure across the Wapta Glacier towards Bow Hut. The traverse continues to the Rob Ritchie (Balfour) Hut, concluding at the Scott Duncan Hut.
Booking Procedure

To secure accommodations at the huts, it is necessary to make a reservation that spans multiple huts over multiple days. Please note that members of the ACC (Alpine Club of Canada) are eligible to book up to 180 days in advance, while non-members can make reservations up to 90 days prior (12am MT) to their desired dates. Online booking is available for your convenience.

Bow-Yoho Traverse

The Bow Yoho Traverse typically takes three days to complete but allows flexibility in terms of the number of days and huts visited. The journey commences at Bow Hut, followed by a traverse across the Wapta Glacier, a visit to the Louise and Richard Guy Hut, and concludes at the Stanley Mitchell Hut.

Please note that members of the ACC (Alpine Club of Canada) are eligible to book up to 180 days in advance, while non-members can make reservations up to 90 days prior (12am MT) to their desired dates. Online booking is available for your convenience.

FAQs:

  • If you make a reservation 180 days in advance, you may call our guest services team to extend the reservation up to a total of 5 nights. If you wish to book 5+ days in advance you may call our guest’s services team daily to book the additional days past the 5-day grace booking window. We do not allow a booking past the 5-day booking extension.
  • If you are looking to book multiple huts within the 5-day grace booking window, you may call our guest services team to complete the booking once the starting hut has been booked. For example, if you are booking Peyto Hut for February 20, the booking window opens 180 days prior to the start date, you may book the Petyo Hut and call our guest services team to complete the booking of Feb 21 – Bow Hut, Feb 22 – Belhour Hut and Feb 23- Scott Duncan Hut. Please confirm availability before calling. 
  • Booking windows open 180 days in advance at 12 a.m. for members and non-members, 90 days in advance at 12 a.m.

Use the calendar below to select the dates of your desired traverse. The huts on the right will then display the number of spaces available.

When you have decided on your traverse dates, return to our huts page, select the first hut on your stay and make your booking for that hut. 

You may then call our reservations line (403-678-3200 ext. 0) and our staff will book the remainder of your traverse.
